New digital drawing was added to the gallery couple of days ago, Phoenix. It's an illustration for a fantasy/SF fanzine.
I figured it was about time I removed some of my old drawings: the general bad stuff, still life and celebrity portraits. It's a bit sad that my most viewed work (almost 20 thousand views) was that of Maynard, and it wasn't even that good.
Now that I have a sketchblog dedicated to studies, this gallery will feature only original art. Speaking of sketchblog, some new stuff posted over there.
Great news (for me): I replaced my small occasionally-malfuncioning Genius tablet by a new Wacom intuos3 A4! Now that I got it, I can finally start saving for a driver's licence.
Those of you from Croatia and nearby countries that read this version, just a quick note: if you create fantasy/SF art, consider applying to the LiburniCon art contest, best works will be exhibited during the convention, and you may win a small prize. (Deadline: July 17th 2007)

Congrats on the Wacom! What is the surface like? My mom got me one of those years ago but I hated it because the surface was more slidey and slick whereas I'm so used to drawing on paper.
I saw your self-portrait on your sketchblog and it looks like it works pretty well :)

Thanks! :) I like the surface very much. Tablets will never have the feeling of paper, I guess you just get used to it. Genius has a transparent plastic layer (you can put a paper underneath) which is textured, but it still feels slick. Wacom surface is matte and more gummy. You also get a replacement nib if you want higher friction.
It works great, and I got used to the size pretty quick :)
The driver's licence will take a while. I'll see how it goes, perhaps I change my mind and go on a trip instead.

I can't believe you took off the crab hand drawing, the pinup sexy woman, the guy with the peace sign, and the amazing vase drawings. Those were...just amazing.
But it's all your choice anyway.
Congratulations on your new tablet though! I got mine like 4 months ago and I barely had used it. Now, I'm using it with working on a small CG. Trying, at least.

Thanks Leo, I agree they were technically good drawings (with some evident mistakes, though), but they're not "mine". They simply prove I can draw things from observation and control the pencil very well when I have the patience. In my opinion, anyone can learn to draw from observation with some effort, but not everyone can think of interesting subjects and depict them in an original way. I value creativity more than skill, and I want my gallery to reflect this principle.
When I got my first tablet, it remained in the box for a year. But now I don't use the mouse at all :)
I checked out the prices, and the minimum is around 1000$ (I thought is was 1500$ but I was wrong). Now that may not seem much, but our standard is low (average paycheck here is 500$) so you can guess how long it will take me to collect that money when I work only part-time. Anyway, talking about money is depressing.
Fantasy contest, yay! Thank you, but what I hope is some good artists will apply so I can finally meet someone around here who creates such art, I don't have many artist friends... everyone is into photography.

samo domena? 50-100 kuna godišnje, ovisi gdje. prostor je druga stvar, ali ono što ja koristim ti sigurno ne treba. potraži sama koliko koštaju manji paketi.
(ja se ponosim na svoje radove jer ih volim, ali kad sam vidjela tvoje..... )
