April 15^th was In obscuro's third birthday. I didn't prepare anything special, so I'll just use this occasion to announce a few events.

First there's Sferakon this weekend, April 25.-27. where I'm going with my friends from "3. Zmaj". I have one simple task to do, and the rest will be mingling and having fun.

Next weekend (May 2.-4.) I'm heading to Konfuzija in Sečovlje, Slovenia. The convention will also feature an exhibition of my digital works.

So that's it. Hopefully I'll have something to upload after all this is over.

Removing the dust from pencils

A traditional dark/horror drawing, after a long time: Nightmares. I sketched it a while ago, but finished in the past 2 days. I haven't decided if I like it yet..

Istrakon was great, and two new conventions are coming up soon... what an active month :)

I've been a little hyper-productive lately after a long phase of inactivity — I've added another work to the gallery yesterday: Remnants. Back to dark.

Horror at the swamp

Already a new painting! :) But the fact is, this painting is half a year old, and now I'm trying to cut of all the tails I left behind, so I can work on new things without something hanging over my head. Take a look at Father Cedrik.

Pretty good year

Hi guys, happy New Year, Christmas and all the other holidays that were or will follow soon. In case you haven't noticed, there's a neat card at my sketchblog.

I managed to fulfill my long-time wish right before the end of year, and paint something on canvas: Selfsustaining heart. More minimalist than my usual stuff, and it was much fun to paint.

The past year has been by far the best in my "career" so far — let's see...

had 4 group art shows, one in the USA, and 3 local on SF conventions
received the award Sfera for best SF art in the year 2006, which I vote the coolest thing in the past year. plus a few more awards at other conventions.
met some people in the book publishing business and got my work to appear on book covers.
continued with my web design work, and started a business of my own with a couple of friends (more on this on some other occasion)
met many new creative and fun people, and started to collaborate with some of them

Nothing comes without a price, but I think that the good stuff outweighed the bad, and I'm very content. I hope you had a pretty good year yourselves. Cheers!

Something old, something new

I've been away for the weekend visiting a SF/fantasy convention Essekon, had a great time playing boardgames and mingling with people, and when I came back I went straight back to work. This resulted in two book covers: Battlefield Istria — a new SF digital painting, and Nightmare — an old horror painting you could've seen in my gallery already, but it has been significantly edited.

I was thinking about making a mailing list for the updates. So far I thought RSS feeds should be enough, but if some of you would like to receive the updates in your mailbox, say so and I'll make it happen :)

Lethal allurement

New digital artwork: Allure. Since I was in a big hurry to finish this, I decided to take some shortcuts, so I used a couple of photos. Everything else is painted from scratch. I mentioned "hurry", well the truth is if there wasn't for a contest deadline who knows when I'd be posting something new. The important thing is: I finally did something just for myself, and it feels great.
